Dennis started About Saving Heat Co. in 1975. He was the first Certified Home Energy Rater in Colorado (certificate #001), and is an outgoing commissioner of the governor-appointed Colorado Energy Association Foundation. Dennis is a respected lecturer and consultant on home energy conservation and has worked with Denver Public Libraries, Denver Historical Society, the Solar Energy Research Institute as well as Public Service Company's Energy auditors.

The Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers, a non-profit professional society of 8,000 national members, honored Dennis with its "Energy Engineer of the Year Award" for 1998. Dennis is also an international energy consultant and holds Denver's highest construction supervision certificate (class A #1014371).

In 1992 and 1993, Dennis was a key consultant in the U.S. Agency for International Development and the Department of Energy's Krakow Clean Fossil Fuel and Energy Efficient Project in Krakow, Poland. Dennis was also a two-term president of the Colorado Thermal Improvement Association during the 1980s. Dennis graduated from the University of Denver's Business School (Real Estate Finance and Construction Management) in 1974.
